I’ve had a few people ask me recently  about opera studios  in Germany (Opernstudio or Junges Ensemble, basically what is in other parts called a Young Artist or Apprentice Programme), so I thought I might do a few posts about that over the next little while.

So, as far as I’m aware, these are (in alphabetical order) the studios attached to houses (I can’t comment on the renumeration) that exist in the German speaking part of the world (Germany, Austria and parts of Switzerland):

If I’ve missed an opera studio, please let me know!

    1. I haven’t got an extensive list, but houses like Paris, Milan, Strasbourg, Covent Garden, ENO, Glyndebourne, Aix-en-Provence, Flemish Opera & Welsh National have, I think, studios or YAPs.

    1. Most opera studios in Germany are international, and accept applicants from all over the world. There are a couple which draw only from a particular music school, however (e.g. Karlsruhe).

  1. Hi Andrew, great site, already proven extremely useful! Thank you.
I´m a pianist though, and most of these studios don´t have places for repetiteurs. Any chance of finding a similar list regarding vocal coaching/accompaniment?
