Farewell old friend – images from my Nikon D50

Last week I sold my trusty Nikon D50. I bought it when we lived in Sydney, and it was a real catalyst for my picture taking. I’ve taken it around the world a bit, and taken some wonderful images on it, including one which won a prize. So, as a way to mark the occassion, I’ve put together a Flickr album with some ‘highlights’ of […]

#look7in7 Day 1

It’s 7in7 time again, but sadly, I have no chance of carving out any significant songwriting time right at the moment. However, the idea has been expanded to include literature and visual art (a great idea!) and so I’m going to try and make one decent photograph over the next week during times when I’m out and about. I got off to a very good […]

Lightstock – faith fotos

Lightstock – faith fotos

I’ll declare my interest right now – I have some images available on this site, but even so, I think it’s worth highlighting (and no, I’m not getting paid to say this). Lightstock is a source for “faith-focused stock images”. It’s not just that they offer images which would applicable for churches and para-church groups to use,  but each of the contributing photographers has […]

I might also post a couple of shots of me, taken by other members of the group, especially the […]

He went flying down the river in his boat with his video camera to his eye, making a moving picture of the moving river upon which his sleek boat moved […]

Why you should make memories and not photographs

Why you should make memories and not photographs

I like taking photographs, and I’m not against documentation, but I do agree that we need to be aware that sometimes the act of recording something can get in the way of us experiencing it (particularly at weddings.. I mean, honestly, they’re paying someone to take the shots, you don’t need to). In our amazing era of digital immediacy, I can tell the world where […]

Breaking in boots in the Bergwald

Breaking in boots in the Bergwald

We’re getting into the German culture this summer, with plans to wandern regularly. We broke in our hiking boots this afternoon, with a short hike in the nearby Bergwald: It was quite a pleasant walk, through both forest and some farming countryside. We had a peek inside a little chapel, and saw some deer, finishing at the Durlach Turmberg. Here are some photos I took:
