New Songs – part 1b

New Songs – part 1b

Yesterday I posted a list of new songs I think we’ll start singing at International Worship sometime during the year. Basically, because I find it so difficult to narrow things down, I came up with a sneaky way of making the list look smaller, in that I also sent a couple of song suggestions to fit specific situations. Before I move on to the aforementioned list of older songs, I thought I’d share these, which will probably apply more to the German congregation, but here they are:

For baptisms:

Christ is risen, by Matt Maher

I love the line ‘trampling over death by death’ and the call to awake (Romans 6). No need for the spoken-word section in this video though..

Beneath the waters (I will rise), Hillsong

As I mentioned in the previous post, I have a bit of a prior bias against Hillsong, but as you might have noticed, this is the third song from Hillsong in my list! They’ve really turned a corner in terms of the soundness and gospel focus of their lyrics. In any case, this is a terrific, theologically deep song. Sadly, I couldn’t find a better video. There are also official German lyrics to this one.

Advent / Christmas

My heart delights, Emu Music

From Emu’s new Advent album, I was glad to hear the final product of this song by Simone Richardson and Philip Percival, as Simone had been blogging it’s development.

Easter

It is finished, by Matt Papa

I absolutely love this song, but I’m not sure it’s necessarily a great congregational song. I’ve suggested that showing the video might be beneficial.
