We’re getting into the German culture this summer, with plans to wandern regularly. We broke in our hiking boots this afternoon, with a short hike in the nearby Bergwald:

It was quite a pleasant walk, through both forest and some farming countryside. We had a peek inside a little chapel, and saw some deer, finishing at the Durlach Turmberg.
